Summary of Services Provided:
The ARC is a non-profit organization that is local, state and national. We are the voice and action for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Locally we monitor services provided in our county and provide financial assistance in programs and transportation.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs:
Fund Raising, bowling league, residential repairs, Buddies (good friendships), Special Olympics, Workshop volunteers to create and make saleable projects with and for the clients.

Summary of Services Provided:
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers the traditional community-based mentoring program throughout Jackson County, as well as school-based mentoring programs at Seymour, Crothersville, Brownstown and Medora Schools. Our programs "match" a caring, adult volunteer with a child between the ages of 6 and 14 in a one-to-one mentoring relationship. Together, the volunteer and child spend time with one another on a regular basis doing things they both enjoy. Research has proven that Big Brothers Big Sisters can have significant, measurable impact on children at-risk. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is "helping children in need reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with volunteers."
Ongoing Volunteer Needs:
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a volunteer-based organization. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors to the children in our programs. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and must undergo the enrollment and screening process in order to be accepted as a Big Brother or Big Sister volunteer. There is no maximum age for someone to volunteer.
Current Volunteer Needs:
There is currently a waiting list of children (both boys and girls) who are waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister in Jackson County. Many volunteer mentors are needed!

Summary of Services Provided:
Nutrition Site, Senior Public Transit, socialization, education, medical screenings. Information and referral, intergenerational projects.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs:
Volunteers are welcome to find which activities fit them best. Activities range from running activities, paperwork, advertisement, janitorial, socialization with seniors, community out reach, and serving lunch.

Summary of Services Provided:
Center for Women's Ministries is a non-profit organization founded in1989 in Bloomington, IN and established in Jackson County in 1996. It is Christ-centered and nondenominational and exists to serve women 13 and older to promote emtional and spiritual healing through one-on-one counseling and support groups led by trained para-professional volunteers.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs:
Volunteers are needed to work as receptionists, to clean and to work with the library and filing. For the more spiritually mature woman, the Center offers Basic Peer Counselor Training which is the first step toward working as a volunteer peer counselor.

Provide photocopying services related to course work. Advocate for students

Summary of Services Provided:
Jackson County Drug-Free Council, Inc. works to address alcohol, and other substance abuse issuesby serving as advisory board to the County Commissioners recommending worthy projects for funding from the local Drug-Free Community Fund, coordinating community resources, developing plans and projects to address those needs, increasing awareness of substance abuse issues and problems facing our county, and advising the Governor’s Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana on actions needed and progress made in Jackson County.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs:
The Jackson County Drug-Free Council needs concerned citizens from business, churches, social service organizations, government bodies, treatment professionals, law enforcement, and all sectors of our communities to join the council and serve on its committees to build a local grass-roots coalition working to prevent and reduce substance abuse, especially among our youth.

Summary of Services Provided:
Provide employment and training services to individuals that are 55 years of age and older. Recruit possible participants, development business relationships for potential employers, and recruit non profit agencies for possible training sites. Provide necessary training to individuals to assist them in obtaining employment in the private sector.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs:
Putting up posters to assist with recruitment efforts. Sometimes mailings. Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner to obtain give a ways, auction items, and to sell tables for the event. The Celebrity Waiter Dinner is held each year on the first Wedneday of May.
